Roya Rahmani has been appointed as Afghanistan’s ambassador to the United States, Kabul confirmed Saturday.
Rahmani will be first woman to serve in the post in the country’s history.
She was acting as the country’s ambassador in Indonesia prior the new appointment.
“Roya Rahmani is one of the talented diplomats of Afghanistan, who had achievements during her service in Indonesia. She has been appointed as Afghanistan’s new ambassador to US and will begin working there soon,” said Haroon Chakhansoori, a spokesman for Afghan president.
Rahmani’s appointment comes after her predecessor Hamdullah Mohib became national security adviser in August.(Afghan Voice Agency-AVA)
