Majuli is a sub-division of Assam’s Jorhat District in north-eastern India, and is the world’s largest river island. Majuli is 90 kilometres or 55 miles long (east to west) and about 16 kilometres or 9 miles wide (north to south). Thousands of migratory birds flock to its water bodies.
